About the role
The Green Growth Programme in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is seeking a technical consultant to develop, validate and disseminate a fisheries standards framework. The role involves preparing an initial draft, facilitating a participatory workshop, incorporating feedback, and supporting final rollout to stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise on good aquaculture practices, biosecurity and climate resilience.
- Support development and review of sanitary, phytosanitary and commercial standards, including grading, quality and traceability requirements.
- Co‑facilitate thematic discussions across the fisheries value‑chain segments.
- Lead preparation of the initial draft standards framework and guide its refinement through the workshop and subsequent technical review.
- Incorporate agreed feedback and finalise the fisheries standards framework and implementation roadmap.
- Prepare technical dissemination materials and support provincial missions to promote stakeholder uptake.
Required profile
- Post‑graduate degree (minimum Master’s) in aquaculture, fisheries science, agronomy, food safety or a related field.
- At least seven years of technical experience in the fisheries/aquaculture sector and/or development of agri‑food standards.
- Strong knowledge of standards frameworks covering production, processing, quality and SPS requirements, and relevant certification systems.
- Experience applying market systems development approaches to agricultural value chains.
- Demonstrated ability to work in the DRC or comparable contexts and produce technical documents in French.
