Flight Physician – Aeromedical Operations

About the role

The Flight Physician will deliver advanced pre‑hospital and in‑flight critical care during aeromedical evacuations and other aviation missions in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to the Medical Operations Manager and Medical Director, you will work within multidisciplinary crews to ensure patient safety in austere environments.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency and critical care support to patients during rotor‑wing and fixed‑wing flights.
• Conduct pre‑flight medical assessments and prepare equipment for aeromedical missions.
• Maintain clinical governance and patient safety standards throughout operations.
• Collaborate with pilots, nurses and paramedics to coordinate safe evacuations.
• Adapt medical protocols to the operational requirements of remote and austere settings.

Required profile

• Medical registration in the EU, UK, USA, RSA, Australia or New Zealand.
• Minimum five years post‑graduation experience in Emergency Medicine and/or Critical Care.
• At least two years of aviation medical experience with rotor‑wing or fixed‑wing aeromedical operations.
• Valid AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Valid ITLS or PHTLS certification.
