Head of Engineering

About the role

The Head of Engineering will lead the engineering function for a major seaport, ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance and environmental sustainability. This senior position reports to regional engineering leadership and oversees both internal staff and third‑party contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high availability and reliability of all port equipment and infrastructure.
• Develop and manage annual budgets and capital‑expenditure programmes in line with DP World standards.
• Oversee third‑party contractor performance, ensuring cost‑effective resource allocation.
• Implement safety, security and environmental policies, monitoring KPIs and compliance.
• Lead recruitment, training and development programmes for engineering teams.
• Create and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance activities.
• Coordinate procurement of new equipment, verifying specifications against global standards.
• Report equipment status, progress and KPI tracking to senior management.

Required profile

• Fluency in French is essential.
• Proven experience managing large engineering teams in a port or industrial environment.
• Strong budgeting and capital‑expenditure management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead third‑party contractors and drive continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of safety, security and environmental regulations applicable to seaport operations.
