Hydrogeology Technician

About the role

The Hydrogeology Technician supports safe and efficient dewatering operations in an open‑pit mine. Working under the Hydrogeology Supervisor, the technician conducts daily field inspections, gathers hydrogeological data, and ensures accurate reporting to aid geotechnical and mining activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of hydrogeological installations and dewatering system components.
• Monitor, record, and verify readings from hydrogeological monitoring instruments.
• Collect, update, and upload field data to the mine database.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of dewatering activities.
• Identify and report any abnormalities, hazards, or equipment failures.
• Prepare and submit detailed field reports to the Open Pit Hydrogeology Supervisor.
• Collaborate with consultants and technical specialists during investigations.
• Ensure compliance with site safety procedures, environmental standards, and operational requirements.
• Maintain hydrogeological equipment and monitoring tools in good working condition.

Required profile

• Secondary School Diploma (High School Certificate); technical qualification in Geology, Hydrogeology, Mining or related field is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in open‑pit mining operations.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Experience with hydrogeological monitoring, mine dewatering or geotechnical operations.
• Proven ability to work safely in a mining environment.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of hydrogeology and mine dewatering systems.
• Ability to operate hydrogeological and geological monitoring instruments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Accurate collection, recording and reporting of field data.
