In‑depth Auditor for Annual Project Audit in Kinshasa

About the role

The organization Hoffnungszeichen | Sign of Hope e.V. seeks an experienced auditor to conduct an in‑depth audit of the “SEWOH‑Holistic Food Security for Communities in Sud Ubangi, DRC” project for the period 1 January 2023 – 31 December 2023. The assignment is a short‑term consultancy based in Kinshasa and is funded under the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Examine all financial documents, vouchers, receipts, and transaction records related to the project.
• Verify compliance with BMZ funding rules, German non‑profit regulations, national laws, and international accounting standards.
• Prepare an independent audit report that includes findings, recommendations, and an opinion on the financial statements.
• Identify strengths, weaknesses, and improvement opportunities in the financial and human‑resource management systems of the local implementing agency, Humana People to People Congo (HPP‑Congo).

Required profile

• Professional experience in financial auditing, preferably for development or humanitarian projects.
• Familiarity with BMZ funding requirements, German non‑profit accounting, and international standards (e.g., IFRS).
• Ability to work independently in Kinshasa and communicate in English and French.
