Medical Director – Humanitarian Health Programs

About the role

The Medical Director provides technical vision, strategy and oversight for International Medical Corps’ health programs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Working closely with senior management and field teams, the role ensures high‑quality clinical services, compliance with international standards and effective coordination with national health authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage health programs, ensuring alignment with WHO, Sphere and national standards.
• Provide technical supervision to field sites, monitor service quality and facilitate transfer of best practices across locations.
• Oversee data collection, reporting and quality‑improvement activities for all health initiatives.
• Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply chains, reviewing consumption reports and ensuring timely procurement.
• Represent IMC in the national Health Cluster, donor meetings and coordination forums, advocating for program priorities.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD) with a master’s in public health preferred.
• 10+ years experience in health program management, including at least 7 years in senior leadership roles within NGOs or low‑resource settings.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams, manage multiple grants and engage with donors, government officials and international agencies.
