Mining Health & Safety Manager

About the role

The Mining Health & Safety Manager will lead a dedicated team to create value by enabling health and safety across the Mining Department of Kamoto Copper Company. Reporting to the General Manager Health, Safety & Environment, the role focuses on anticipating risk, implementing robust safety processes, and supporting sustainable operations.

Key responsibilities

• Support COO and line management to implement and improve health and safety processes and practices that deliver organizational objectives.
• Support the development and implementation of the Health and Safety strategy.
• Identify opportunities and make recommendations to build capacity for compliance with Health and Safety management standards.
• Monitor and address drift from standards, sustainably reduce material risk, and proactively monitor effectiveness of controls.
• Improve work processes impacting physical and psychosocial safety.
• Facilitate development and execution of business‑wide safety improvement initiatives aligned with the business plan.
• Lead and improve the safety leadership improvement program within Mining Support, embedding safety culture.
• Lead development and improvement of Health and Safety standards, systems and processes.
• Facilitate development of safety training and communication material.
• Provide safety leadership support and evidence‑based advice to operations teams.
• Proactively improve contractor safety management and engagement in Mining.
• Create foresight about changing risk levels and facilitate action before harm occurs.
• Establish systems to monitor and improve compliance to standards and recommend actions.
• Anticipate future scenarios and facilitate management of related health and safety risks.
• Provide high‑quality, data‑driven safety performance reports and insights.
• Facilitate major incident investigations and other learning processes.
• Provide quality assurance, control and improvement of incident investigations.
