National Security Coordinator

About the role

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) seeks a National Security Coordinator to lead the development and implementation of security procedures, communications, and training for its operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Based in Goma, the role safeguards staff, assets, and programmatic activities across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, document, analyze and prioritize programmatic threats and risks affecting staff, visitors, and assets.
• Develop and maintain national security strategy, risk assessment, mitigation, and crisis management plans.
• Enhance threat‑intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination for local, regional, and global trends.
• Prepare and deliver security briefings, communication tools, and training modules for staff awareness.
• Design and monitor threat‑mitigation strategies, including personnel risk management and asset protection.
• Provide guidance to senior leadership on security best practices and response protocols.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security coordination or risk management within complex operational environments.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior programmatic staff and external partners.
• Strong analytical skills for threat assessment and intelligence evaluation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for briefing and training delivery.
