Operations Manager

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking an Operations Manager to lead its emergency response to the Ebola outbreak in Ituri province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role will be based in the affected region and will coordinate national society‑led activities, ensuring rapid containment and community protection.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation of community engagement, door‑to‑door awareness, and safe burial activities carried out by Red Cross volunteers.
• Coordinate surveillance, infection‑prevention measures and outbreak‑control operations in collaboration with local health authorities and partner organisations.
• Manage logistics, resource mobilisation, and surge capacity to support cross‑border preparedness and response.
• Facilitate communication between IFRC headquarters, regional offices, and national societies to align strategies and reporting.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of response interventions and adjust plans as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing humanitarian or health emergency operations.
• Strong knowledge of outbreak response, community mobilisation and coordination with government and NGOs.
• Ability to work in insecure, low‑resource environments and adapt quickly to evolving situations.
• Excellent leadership, decision‑making and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
