Operations Specialist – Quality Assurance (Ops/QA Officer)

About the role

The Operations Specialist – Quality Assurance will support UNMAS DRC in implementing a KOICA‑funded mine‑action project across North Kivu, South Kivu, Ituri and Tanganyika. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the role ensures that operational plans, technical designs and implementation timelines meet UN standards and project objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational and technical input to programme and project design documents, including work‑plans, concept of operations and resource requirements.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing UNMAS/UNOPS agreements, solicitation documents and human‑resources plans.
• Monitor implementation of mine‑action activities, ensuring timelines, resources and compliance with UNOPS policies.
• Coordinate with technical experts to verify that field operations follow quality‑assurance standards.
• Support capacity‑building for national NGOs and the National Mine Action Authority (CCLAM) in explosive ordnance disposal.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian or security‑related operations, preferably in explosive hazard management.
• Strong understanding of mine‑action pillars such as clearance, risk education, victim assistance and stockpile destruction.
• Ability to work in challenging field environments and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
