Programme Manager – Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) & WASH

About the role

Mercy Corps is seeking a Programme Manager to lead Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) activities within the Integrated Ebola Response Driven Communities (IERDC) consortium in Bunia, Ituri Province. The role will support the organisation's holistic, community‑centered Ebola response, ensuring safe health‑facility environments and effective hygiene promotion.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor IPC and WASH interventions in health facilities and communities.
• Coordinate with consortium partners, local authorities and health‑zone officials to align activities with national guidelines.
• Lead risk communication and community surveillance efforts to build trust and promote early reporting.
• Manage programme budgets, reporting, and compliance with donor and organisational standards.
• Provide technical training and capacity‑building for staff and community volunteers.
• Ensure safeguarding, gender equality and social inclusion principles are integrated into all activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing IPC and/or WASH programmes in humanitarian or emergency settings.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑partner projects and work in high‑risk environments.
• Strong understanding of Ebola response protocols and public‑health standards.
