Project Manager – Clean Cooking & Carbon Offsetting

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the implementation of a clean‑cooking initiative across several African countries, ensuring the distribution of improved cooking stoves and the generation of carbon credits. Reporting to the Country Program Director and the Country Representative, the role combines technical expertise with overall project coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all project activities, ensuring compliance with the approved proposal, budget, and timeline.
• Achieve project targets and key performance indicators related to stove distribution and carbon credit generation.
• Recruit, orient, and train project staff, fostering capacity building and professional development.
• Coordinate staff, strengthen autonomy, and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Oversee registration and monitoring of carbon credits according to Verra standards (VCS, SD Vista) and donor requirements.
• Apply AVSI logistic and administrative procedures in collaboration with the Operations Manager.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing development projects, preferably in clean‑cooking or carbon‑offsetting sectors.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage donor‑funded budgets.
• Strong understanding of international carbon standards such as Verra VCS and SD Vista.
• Fluent English communication skills.
