Project Manager – Food Security (USAID)

About the role

AVSI is seeking a Project Manager to lead the implementation of a USAID‑funded Food Security project in the Kasai and North Kivu provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The role combines overall project management with technical expertise on the Graduation Approach and ensures that project activities are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and take final responsibility for all project activities, ensuring compliance with the approved proposal, budget, and schedule.
• Achieve project targets and key performance indicators while overseeing recruitment, orientation, and training of staff.
• Coordinate and build capacity of project staff, fostering autonomy and professional development.
• Ensure adherence to AVSI and USAID procedures on procurement, logistics, safety, and administration in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Country Representative.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation and learning processes to guarantee quality and sustainability of results.
• Develop and maintain relationships with partners, local authorities, and stakeholders; represent AVSI in sector coordination structures.
• Prepare narrative, financial, and other required reports for AVSI, donors, and local authorities.
• Identify new funding opportunities and contribute to proposal development.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Proficient knowledge of French and English (C1 level, written and oral).
• Experience managing development projects, preferably in food security or related sectors.
• Familiarity with USAID regulations and the Graduation Approach is an advantage.
• Strong ability to work in a multicultural environment and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
