Ranch Director – Strategic Turnaround

About the role

The Ranch Director will lead the strategic and operational transformation of a 20,000‑head cattle ranch in Kiabukwe, DRC. This senior position focuses on shifting from extensive grazing to a disciplined, paddock‑based intensive system while improving breeding, health, and data‑driven management.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the transition from open‑range grazing to a structured paddock system, including infrastructure and movement planning.
• Implement rigorous protocols to meet elite targets for neonatal survival, calving rates, weaning weights, and body‑condition scores.
• Standardize veterinary and bio‑security procedures, ensuring compliance with vaccination, dipping, and culling schedules.
• Translate field data into executive reports and oversee the rollout of a Ranching ERP for accurate data capture.
• Manage logistics for feed, supplements, veterinary supplies, and ensure timely ordering and distribution.
• Supervise the maintenance and efficient use of the ranch fleet, tractors, and processing equipment.

Required profile

• Science degree (e.g., Agriculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine).
• Proven experience leading large‑scale livestock operations and system transitions.
• Strong understanding of animal health, breeding, and bio‑security best practices.
• Ability to manage complex logistics and large‑asset fleets.

Required skills

• Experience with Ranching ERP or similar enterprise management systems.
• Data analysis and reporting capabilities.
• Knowledge of paddock‑based grazing management.
