Ranch Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Ranch Manager to lead the transformation of our cattle operation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role focuses on moving from open‑range grazing to a modern paddock‑based system while maintaining high standards of animal health and productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and oversee the transition from open‑range grazing to an intensive paddock rotation system to optimise land use and carrying capacity.
• Manage the rollout of new fencing, water‑reticulation networks and road infrastructure, and supervise the maintenance of heavy machinery and vehicle fleet.
• Enforce bio‑security protocols, monitor herd health, and drive improvements in reproductive performance and calving rates.
• Introduce data‑driven processes for tracking herd movements, health metrics and asset utilisation.
• Lead, train and develop a large local workforce, fostering a culture of discipline, accountability and operational excellence.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience with cattle and a deep understanding of the African veld.
• Proven ability to manage large‑scale livestock operations and infrastructure projects.
• Strong leadership skills with experience supervising a sizable local team.
• Commitment to bio‑security and animal welfare standards.
