Security Officer – Fixed-Term – Kinshasa

About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking a Security Officer to support day‑to‑day security operations at its Kinshasa office. The role ensures the safety of staff, assets and programme delivery in a dynamic humanitarian environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Security in managing daily security activities and incident response.
• Contribute to contingency and continuity planning for WFP facilities and programmes.
• Coordinate with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) and local authorities.
• Conduct regular security assessments and ensure emergency systems are tested.
• Support internal travel logistics and provide security briefings for staff moving between sites.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security operations, preferably in humanitarian or UN settings.
• Ability to travel extensively within the country.
• Strong communication skills for liaison with UNDSS and other partners.
• Understanding of security risk management and emergency procedures.
