Senior Long Term Planning Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Long Term Planning Engineer to lead the development, optimisation and governance of integrated underground Life‑of‑Mine (LOM) plans for the Kibali Gold Mine. The role supports safe, cost‑effective mining outcomes and aligns with Barrick’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creation, review and optimisation of underground LOM plans, integrating reserve models, production targets and capital requirements.
• Generate long‑term stope designs, access layouts and infrastructure schedules using Deswik.
• Conduct scenario planning, trade‑off studies and sensitivity analyses to evaluate alternative mining strategies.
• Coordinate with geology, geotechnical, ventilation, projects and operations teams to ensure alignment across planning horizons.
• Prepare LOM reports, production schedules and capital timing inputs for management review.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering with 8–10 years of underground hard‑rock mining experience.
• Proven experience in Life‑of‑Mine planning, reserve conversion and long‑hole stoping environments.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Deswik mine planning and scheduling software.
• Expertise in long‑hole stoping and underground mine design.
• Knowledge of underground mining economics, dilution, recovery and backfill.
