About the role
WSP is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership and discipline authority for complex mechanical engineering scopes across energy and infrastructure projects. The role will define engineering strategy, lead design delivery, and ensure safe, compliant, and constructible solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering scopes across all project phases (feasibility, concept, basic and detailed design) for high‑risk projects.
- Define and approve design philosophies, basis of design inputs, and key technical approaches.
- Act as the technical authority for mechanical deliverables, including calculations, specifications, datasheets, reports and design documentation.
- Design and review mechanical systems such as rotating equipment, static equipment, piping, pressure vessels, HVAC, material handling and plant utilities.
- Provide expert input on equipment selection, material choices, code compliance, reliability and maintainability.
- Guide and review P&IDs, layouts, mechanical datasheets, operating philosophies and commissioning strategies.
- Lead technical engagement with vendors, evaluate complex submissions and support negotiations.
- Offer senior technical support during construction and commissioning, resolving site queries and challenges.
- Participate in safety and risk studies (HAZID/HAZOP) to ensure designs meet regulatory requirements.
- Mentor intermediate and senior engineers, providing guidance and quality oversight.
Required profile
- BEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10–15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design and delivery within energy, industrial, infrastructure or process facilities.
- Proven experience leading discipline scopes and acting as a mechanical technical authority on complex projects.
- ECSA registration as a Professional Engineer.
