Senior WASH Expert – Water & Sanitation Specialist

About the role

Chemonics International is building a global roster of senior‑level Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) experts, Deputy Chiefs of Party and Chiefs of Party to support current and future donor‑funded programs. Candidates will provide strategic technical guidance across a range of water‑sector topics in diverse locations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on water resource management, urban WASH, sector governance, financing and climate resilience.
• Support the design, implementation and monitoring of donor‑funded WASH projects.
• Collaborate with high‑level public and private sector stakeholders to align program objectives.
• Contribute to policy development, regulatory frameworks and systems‑thinking approaches.
• Assist in preparing proposals, reports and compliance documentation, especially under USAID regulations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in water/environmental engineering, public health, international affairs, public policy or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of management and supervisory experience in WASH, water resource management, governance or capacity‑building programs with a US Government agency, international assistance organization or NGO.
• At least five years of field experience in one or more developing countries.
• Proven ability to liaise with senior public and private sector representatives.
• Fluency in English; French is a plus.
