Supply & Logistics Officer (6‑month TA) – Butembo

About the role

The Supply and Logistics Officer will support UNICEF’s emergency response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in the field office in Butembo, the officer will ensure that essential supplies reach vulnerable children and communities efficiently and safely during a six‑month temporary assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, procure and contract goods and services required for the Ebola response.
• Manage customs clearance, warehousing, inventory control and stock management.
• Coordinate in‑country transportation, fleet management and last‑mile distribution of time‑critical infection‑prevention commodities.
• Monitor safe storage and handling of supplies, ensuring compliance with UNICEF standards.
• Work closely with programme teams to align supply interventions with programmatic needs.
• Provide operational advice and support to government counterparts, national systems and implementing partners on logistics matters.

Required profile

• University degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or a related field.
• Relevant experience in supply chain or logistics, preferably in humanitarian or emergency contexts.
• Ability to work in a complex, insecure environment and adapt to rapidly changing conditions.
