Technical Specialist – Protection & Surveillance Systems

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Specialist to support the installation, integration, commissioning, operation and maintenance of protection and surveillance technology on a long‑term international project in Beni, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The role is hands‑on and requires strong expertise in military communications, networking and radar‑based surveillance systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, integrate, commission and maintain protection and surveillance hardware, including radars, cameras and command‑and‑control platforms.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, RF and communications issues in the field.
• Configure and maintain LAN/WAN, fibre‑optic and wireless networks linking sensors, radars and command centres.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, keep accurate technical records and update SOPs.
• Deliver technical training to operators and maintenance personnel and support system testing, simulations and operational exercises.

Required profile

• Relevant technical qualification or equivalent practical experience in defence or security environments.
• Proven professional experience with military communications, RF systems, SATCOM and C2/C4I/C4ISR infrastructures.
• Experience working in military, defence, security or government field deployments, including peacekeeping contexts.
• Ability to produce technical documentation, reports and operational procedures.

Required skills

• TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, fibre‑optic, wireless and microwave link technologies.
• RF communications, SATCOM, and radar systems (Ground Surveillance Radar, C‑RAM).
• Counter‑Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C‑UAS) and electronic warfare technologies.
• Long‑range EO/IR cameras and command‑and‑control infrastructure.
