Temple Grounds Gardener

About the role

This entry‑level position ensures that temple grounds reflect the sacredness, beauty, and cleanliness expected by visitors. Working under senior staff, the gardener supports basic landscaping and grounds‑keeping tasks in line with temple facilities standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mowing, edging, trimming, mulching and assist in planting perennials, shrubs and seasonal flowers according to design plans.
• Operate hand tools and power equipment safely, maintain the irrigation system and ensure even water distribution.
• Remove debris, fallen leaves and trash to keep landscaped areas clean.
• Address winter‑related and other natural hazards to keep the site safe and accessible.
• Support volunteers during grounds‑keeping activities while following all safety protocols.

Required profile

• Current temple recommend holder.
• 2 years of related experience or a diploma in agronomy, arboriculture, horticulture, landscaping or related field.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb (23 kg) regularly and up to 100 lb (45 kg) occasionally, and to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, push and pull for extended periods.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and ask clarifying questions.
