Temple Grounds Supervisor

About the role

The Temple Grounds Supervisor ensures that the temple’s outdoor spaces reflect beauty, cleanliness, and the sacred nature of the visitor experience. This role oversees up to 7 acres of landscaped areas, sidewalks, driveways, and building entrances, maintaining high standards set by temple leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and care for all landscaped areas, ensuring they are clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing.
• Develop and supervise a grounds crew, handling hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Coordinate with third‑party vendors and volunteers for specialized tasks.
• Implement watering, fertilizing, mowing, weed and insect control schedules according to landscape plans.
• Prune trees and shrubs, remove dead or diseased branches, and control plant growth.
• Oversee snow removal, equipment use, chemical safety, and storage.
• Report building repairs to the engineer and ensure all required licenses are maintained.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in landscape gardening, horticulture, agriculture, or grounds maintenance.
• 1–2 years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb (23 kg).
• Preferred experience working in a temple environment.
• Relevant degree or certification in horticulture, landscape gardening, or a related field is a plus.
