Underground Fitter – Mining Maintenance

About the role

The Underground Fitter will join the maintenance team at Kibali Gold Mine, working directly underground to keep critical equipment operating safely and efficiently. The role involves diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and supporting the development of junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Work underground performing inspection, diagnosis, adjustment, repair and replacement of defective parts on a variety of mining machines.
• Test repaired equipment to confirm proper operational performance.
• Complete accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports and parts lists as required by daily maintenance tasks.
• Provide routine service and inspection, feedback to the Maintenance Foreman, and assist with warranty claim data.
• Ensure all activities comply with OEM specifications, safety policies and Barrick maintenance strategy.
• Document any electrical bypasses and guarantee equipment is returned to a safe, serviceable state.
• Maintain housekeeping standards for tools, equipment and work areas.

Required profile

• Willingness and ability to work underground.
• Commitment to personal development and continuous improvement.
• Ability to train national employees toward a Level 4 trade certification.
• Strong attention to safety, compliance and equipment documentation.
