WASH/IPC Manager – Emergency Response (6 months)

About the role

The WASH/IPC Manager will lead UNICEF's technical response to the Ebola emergency in Bunia and surrounding at‑risk areas. Based in Bunia, the role ensures rapid implementation of water, sanitation, hygiene and infection‑prevention measures across health facilities, schools and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and day‑to‑day operational coordination for WASH/IPC interventions.
• Represent UNICEF in provincial WASH/IPC coordination mechanisms and liaise with national authorities.
• Oversee planning, monitoring, partner engagement, supply follow‑up, quality assurance and reporting for all WASH/IPC activities.
• Ensure interventions are aligned with national protocols, UNICEF procedures and emergency response standards.
• Coordinate with other response pillars such as risk communication, surveillance, case management, logistics and operations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in WASH/IPC coordination within humanitarian or health‑emergency contexts.
• Ability to work in insecure, logistically challenging environments.
• Strong coordination, adaptability and cultural sensitivity.
