WASH/IPC Manager – Temporary (6 months) – Bunia, DRC

About the role

The WASH/IPC Manager will provide technical leadership and day‑to‑day coordination for UNICEF’s water, sanitation, hygiene and infection‑prevention response to the Ebola emergency in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Bunia, the incumbent will ensure rapid, high‑quality implementation of priority interventions for health facilities, communities, schools and other critical sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical planning and operational coordination of WASH/IPC activities across all affected provinces.
• Ensure strong linkages with other response pillars such as risk communication, surveillance, case management, logistics and operations.
• Oversee the design, implementation and monitoring of WASH/IPC interventions in health facilities and community settings.
• Coordinate partner engagement, supply follow‑up, quality assurance and reporting in line with national protocols and UNICEF standards.
• Provide guidance on emergency response standards, risk mitigation and cultural sensitivity.

Required profile

• Significant experience in WASH and IPC within humanitarian or health‑emergency contexts.
• Proven ability to work in insecure, multi‑stakeholder environments and to coordinate with national authorities.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with a focus on results and accountability.
• Fluency in English; experience in the DRC or similar settings is an advantage.
