Health & Safety Superintendent – ARK Project

About the role

The Health & Safety Superintendent will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Health and Safety Management Plan for the ARK Project feasibility study at Kibali Gold Mine. This role ensures safe execution of field activities, compliance with Barrick and regulatory standards, and promotes a strong safety culture across all project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation, monitoring and improvement of the Project Health and Safety Management Plan.
• Provide health and safety guidance to the Feasibility Study Project Manager, consultants, contractors and field teams.
• Support safe planning and execution of investigations, drilling campaigns, contractor mobilisation and technical studies.
• Drive the Journey to Zero programme and foster a proactive safety culture.
• Participate in contractor tendering, onboarding and ensure safety requirements are embedded in execution plans.
• Coordinate inductions, toolbox talks, safety meetings, inspections and audits.
• Monitor compliance with procedures, risk assessments, permits and emergency response requirements.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action tracking.
• Track, analyse and report safety performance, trends and improvement actions.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records and ensure effective communication among stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in leading health and safety programs on mining or large‑scale industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of Barrick standards, local regulatory requirements and contractor management.
