Superintendent OHS Operations

About the role

The Kibali Gold Mine is seeking a Superintendent OHS Operations to lead and continuously improve the safety culture across the site. You will act as a visible safety leader, championing the Zero Harm philosophy while integrating occupational health and safety objectives into daily business plans.

Key responsibilities

• Drive a proactive safety culture and provide visible leadership on‑site.
• Coach, mentor and develop OHS Officers, Safety Supervisors and operational leaders.
• Maintain and enhance the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) in line with ISO 45001:2018.
• Coordinate internal and external ISO 45001 audits, manage corrective actions and monitor performance indicators.
• Lead hazard identification, risk assessments and critical risk‑management programs.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near‑misses and high‑potential events using root‑cause analysis.
• Ensure compliance with DRC mining, occupational health and safety legislation and fulfill statutory reporting obligations.
• Conduct routine workplace inspections, audits and field safety interactions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading OHS functions in a large‑scale mining environment.
• Strong track record of fostering a Zero Harm mindset and engaging workforce in safety initiatives.
• Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements and ISO standards.

Required skills

• ISO 45001:2018 implementation and audit experience.
• Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) expertise.
• Risk assessment and critical risk‑management techniques.
• Root cause analysis and incident investigation.
• Safety audit and compliance monitoring.
