Health & Safety Superintendent – Mining Operations

About the role

The Health & Safety Superintendent will lead the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of health and safety systems across Mutanda Mining’s operations. Reporting to the Manager – Health & Safety, the role is pivotal in fostering a strong safety culture and achieving the company’s Zero Fatality target.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, implement and continuously improve health & safety policies, procedures and programmes across all mining sites.
• Ensure compliance with company standards (SAFEWORK, GCP) and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the planning, coordination and execution of HSE programmes in collaboration with operational departments.
• Conduct and oversee ICAM incident investigations and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
• Perform routine inspections of equipment, facilities and work areas to identify hazards.
• Coach employees on safe behaviours and conduct audits, surveys and gap assessments.
• Develop, lead and evaluate Safety Officers, ensuring strong team performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Safety Management, Engineering or a related technical field.
• 6‑10 years of health & safety experience in mining or heavy‑industrial environments.
• At least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory HSE role.
• Strong leadership, coaching and team‑management capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
