Lead Civil Engineer – Airport Infrastructure

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Civil Engineer to direct all non‑pavement civil works for a major international airport project in Kinshasa. The role combines technical leadership, design review, on‑site supervision and quality assurance to ensure compliance with ICAO, FAA and local standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the civil engineering scope from concept design through construction, commissioning and hand‑over.
• Review and validate designs for earthworks, grading, storm‑water drainage, utility networks, road geometry, retaining walls, culverts and other site structures.
• Ensure all works comply with ICAO, FAA, ASTM, ACI and local regulations.
• Supervise on‑site civil works, review shop drawings, method statements and material submittals, and monitor testing of soils and concrete.
• Prepare and manage defect (snag) lists, enforce quality control and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, MEP, ICT and pavement teams, and liaise with consultants, contractors and authorities.
• Monitor progress, sequencing and resource allocation; produce technical reports and status updates.
• Identify value‑engineering opportunities, evaluate alternative materials and construction methods for cost savings and sustainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 12 years of experience on large‑scale infrastructure projects, including at least 5 years in airport environments.
• Strong knowledge of international standards (ICAO, FAA, ASTM, ACI) and local codes.
• Proven experience in earthworks, drainage, utility coordination and external works.
