Migrant Protection Officer (P)

About the role

The Migrant Protection Officer (P) will support IOM’s mission to promote humane and orderly migration by safeguarding the rights of individuals on the move. Working closely with governments, inter‑governmental and non‑governmental partners, the officer contributes to IOM’s protection approach across operational contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and implement IOM’s protection framework to ensure respect for the rights of migrants.
• Collaborate with States as primary duty‑bearers to reduce exposure to violence and address protection risks.
• Deliver thematic guidance, direct assistance, advocacy, training and capacity‑building activities.
• Contribute to data collection, research and learning to inform protection strategies.

Required profile

• Qualified candidates, with a preference for female applicants.
• Open to internal candidates and candidates from IOM Member States not currently represented in professional categories.
• First‑tier candidates (internal or from non‑represented Member States) will be considered before second‑tier external candidates.
