Planning Engineer – Balance Cantilever Bridge Construction

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Planning Engineer to lead the planning, scheduling and progress‑control activities for a Balance Cantilever Bridge construction project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Reporting to the Planning Manager/Project Manager, you will coordinate with engineering, construction, procurement, QA/QC, HSE and commercial teams to ensure the project meets its milestones.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using MS Project.
• Prepare overall construction programmes, detailed work programmes and activity schedules.
• Create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for bridge construction activities.
• Monitor progress against baseline schedules, identify deviations and prepare delay analysis.
• Produce weekly and monthly MIS, progress reports, dashboards and management presentations.
• Coordinate look‑ahead programmes and monitor critical activities to ensure timely completion.
• Determine and track manpower, equipment, material and other resource requirements.
• Update construction schedules for foundation, piling, pier works, segment casting, deck works and bridge launching.
• Facilitate progress, engineering and design coordination meetings and record minutes.
• Assist in budget monitoring, cash‑flow planning and cost‑to‑complete analysis.

Required profile

• 8‑12+ years of experience in construction planning, preferably in bridge or large civil infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to develop and control detailed schedules and WBS.
• Strong analytical skills to track progress, identify risks and propose mitigation.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting and stakeholder coordination.
