WASH Coordinator

About the role

The WASH Coordinator will operate at field level to support medium‑to‑large emergency responses or fill a technical coordinator gap in longer‑term humanitarian programmes. Based in a province or sub‑national area, the role leads assessments, planning, coordination and fundraising support for water, sanitation and hygiene interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct sectoral assessments and develop project plans aligned with emergency timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate WASH activities with local authorities, partners and community groups.
• Oversee recruitment, procurement and logistical arrangements for WASH programmes.
• Mentor and build capacity of WASH staff, ensuring community participation and accountability.
• Prepare clear assessment reports, project proposals and donor submissions.
• Represent the organization in external forums and liaise with institutional donors.

Required profile

• Significant experience in emergency or fragile‑state contexts.
• BSc/BA/BEng in Public Health, Water Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience managing a WASH team and delivering projects within time and budget constraints.
• Strong commitment to humanitarian principles and child‑focused mandates.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with cultural and political sensitivity.
