Application Development and Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Application Development and Maintenance Manager leads the design, delivery, and upkeep of enterprise‑wide applications. Reporting to senior leadership, the manager ensures that all solutions are aligned with business goals, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the application development strategy in line with enterprise architecture.
• Lead, mentor and manage a team of technical leads and developers.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) from requirements gathering to production support.
• Implement Agile, Scrum or other appropriate development methodologies.
• Drive platform scalability, reliability, security and performance optimisation.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects and business units to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with regulations such as SOX, GDPR, POPI, PCI‑DSS and internal security policies.
• Establish coding standards, code‑review processes and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software development teams in an enterprise environment.
• Strong business acumen and ability to align technology with organisational objectives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
