Business Development Specialist I

About the role

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking a Business Development Specialist I to support its operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The specialist will help create high‑quality funding proposals, conduct market research, and assist with communication and learning documentation for CRS’s humanitarian programs.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and timely submission of donor proposals that meet technical, cost, and regulatory standards.
• Draft non‑technical sections of proposals and participate in proposal review panels.
• Research new funding opportunities and assess CRS’s competitive position.
• Develop and maintain tools, guidelines, templates, and donor intelligence databases.
• Track proposal submissions, analyze outcomes, and share lessons learned.
• Prepare analytical reports on portfolio trends and growth for internal and external audiences.
• Collaborate with the business development team to create staff development materials such as training modules and distance‑learning resources.

Required profile

• Experience in business development, proposal writing, or donor research within the international development sector.
• Ability to integrate inputs from multiple stakeholders into coherent proposals.
• Strong analytical skills for tracking and reporting on proposal performance.
