Child Protection Officer (6‑month contract)

About the role

The Child Protection Officer will support UNICEF’s response to the Ebola outbreak in Bukavu by providing technical, operational and administrative assistance for child protection and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions. Working under the Chief Child Protection Officer, the incumbent will help ensure that services reach children, families and communities affected by the crisis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update emergency response and programme plans for child protection.
• Implement, monitor and report on child protection activities in Ebola‑affected areas.
• Coordinate with government counterparts, UN agencies, NGOs and implementing partners.
• Support capacity‑building, quality assurance and knowledge‑management initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or a related social‑science field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in child protection, humanitarian assistance or related sectors.
• Ability to work in a complex, insecure environment and adapt to evolving contexts.
