Country Director – Democratic Republic of Congo

About the role

The Country Director for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will provide strategic and operational leadership for World Relief’s country program. Reporting to senior leadership, the role oversees program delivery, financial management, security, and donor relations to ensure high‑impact, sustainable humanitarian and development responses.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a revised country strategy aligned with World Relief’s mission and values.
• Lead program planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation across humanitarian, disaster response, and community resilience initiatives.
• Manage the country budget, financial reporting, and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
• Oversee staff performance, supervision, and HR processes, including timesheets, goal setting, and promotions.
• Ensure staff safety and security protocols are in place and adhered to.
• Maintain and cultivate relationships with donors, partners, and government authorities.
• Represent World Relief as a spiritual leader, fostering a Christian work environment through prayers and devotionals.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development settings, preferably at country level.
• Strong understanding of program management, financial oversight, and donor relations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and manage complex security environments.
• Commitment to World Relief’s Christian values and ability to provide spiritual leadership.
