Design Technologist

About the role

The Design Technologist will join AGI’s Engineering department in Winnipeg, focusing on creating 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings for bulk material handling equipment. Working closely with Application Engineers, the role will evolve to include equipment configuration, technical validation, and direct customer interaction under the guidance of a Professional Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project‑specific equipment designs and configurations using established procedures and templates.
• Create 3D equipment models in SolidWorks based on collaboration with Application Engineers.
• Produce accurate approval drawings, sub‑assemblies, and detailed fabrication drawings.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and reference materials to ensure manufacturability.
• Support production by answering design‑related questions and maintaining CAD data, part numbers, and documentation.
• Update ERP information and manage document control for applications.
• Configure equipment solutions and perform engineering calculations under supervision.
• Track revisions, issue ECNs, and participate in continuous improvement of design processes.

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering/Design Technology, Manufacturing CAD, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in 3D modeling and SolidWorks drawing preparation.
• At least 1 year of mechanical and sheet‑metal design experience (preferred).
• Experience in industrial material handling or equipment design is an asset.
