About the role

Solidarités International is seeking a Country Director to lead its mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, based in Goma. The position starts on 15 March 2023 for an initial one‑year term, renewable based on performance and funding.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and overall management of the country mission, overseeing programmes in food security, water, sanitation, hygiene and cash‑based assistance.
• Ensure integration of protection components across all activities and coordinate with implementing partners.
• Manage a multi‑disciplinary team of expatriates and national staff across three operational bases (Goma/Kiwandja, Beni, Bunia/Fataki).
• Oversee a budget of approximately €16 million, with a target increase to €18 million in 2023, ensuring financial compliance and donor reporting.
• Develop and implement the country’s multi‑annual strategy, including the opening of new bases and expanding the programme portfolio.
• Represent the organization with local authorities, donors, UN agencies and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Extensive senior management experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven track record of managing large, multi‑million‑euro budgets and complex multi‑sectoral projects.
• Strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills, with fluency in French and English.
• Ability to work in insecure environments and adapt to rapidly changing contexts.
