Director of Programme Operations (DRC)

About the role

The Director of Programme Operations will join the Senior Management Team of Save the Children’s DRC Country Office, providing overall leadership for programme delivery, emergency preparedness, and logistics across the country. Reporting to the Country Director, this senior role ensures high‑quality implementation of all programmes and rapid response during humanitarian crises.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the DRC Country Office, fostering a culture of accountability, learning and innovation.
• Design and maintain an organisational structure aligned with agency practices and programme needs.
• Build and sustain relationships with government authorities, donors, partner agencies and NGOs.
• Oversee emergency response and disaster risk reduction activities, coordinating closely with the Regional Office.
• Ensure programme implementation aligns with the country strategy, grant agreements and approved budgets.
• Participate in programme proposal development and monitor progress against timelines and budgets.
• Conceptualise cost‑effective, innovative programmes for hard‑to‑reach children.
• Manage and be accountable for all programme and operations budgets, including PRIME management system oversight.

Required profile

• Senior leadership experience in large‑scale humanitarian or development programmes.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, including supply‑chain, field, and programme directors.
• Fluency in French and English.
• Legal right to work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the contract duration.

Required skills

• Experience with PRIME management system for budget and programme tracking.
