Drill, Load & Haul Electrical Advisor

About the role

The Advisor – Drill_Load_Haul Electrician will provide specialised electrical and electronic expertise for the underground drilling, loading and hauling fleet at KCC SA. Reporting to the Superintendent of Underground Mobile Equipment Maintenance, the role focuses on diagnosing complex faults, supporting maintenance and enhancing the technical capabilities of the national workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, electronic, control and communication failures on Sandvik drills, Caterpillar loaders and trucks.
• Provide technical support for planned maintenance, including fault analysis, component replacement and equipment restoration.
• Analyse recurring failures, review root causes and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment availability.
• Support commissioning and recommissioning activities, ensuring compliance with safety, OEM and KCC standards.
• Maintain accurate intervention records in SAP and collaborate with technical teams, OEM representatives and HSE.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Heavy Equipment Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of electrical/electronic maintenance experience on mining mobile equipment.
• Proven experience with Sandvik and/or Caterpillar equipment or equivalent technologies.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and OEM documentation.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring, sensors, control and communication systems.
• Proficiency with electrical measurement instruments and diagnostic tools.
• Experience using SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) – advantage.
• Coaching and mentoring abilities to develop national electricians.
