Advisor – Drill Load Haul Electrician

About the role

The Advisor – Drill Load Haul Electrician provides specialised electrical and electronic expertise for the underground drilling, loading and hauling fleet, including Sandvik drills and Caterpillar loaders and trucks. Reporting to the Superintendent of Underground Mobile Equipment Maintenance, the role focuses on diagnosing complex failures, supporting maintenance and improving equipment reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose complex electrical, electronic, control and communication failures across drills, loaders and trucks.
• Provide technical support for planned maintenance, including interventions, fault diagnosis, component replacement and equipment restoration.
• Analyse recurring failures, review root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Support commissioning and recommissioning with electrical testing and functional checks.
• Ensure compliance with mining safety standards, OEM and KCC requirements.
• Maintain accurate intervention records in SAP and collaborate with technical teams and OEM representatives.
• Develop national electricians’ capabilities through coaching and knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Heavy Equipment Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical/electronic maintenance of mining mobile equipment.
• Experience with Sandvik and/or Caterpillar equipment or equivalent technologies.
• Strong knowledge of circuits, wiring, sensors, control and communication systems.
• Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and OEM documentation.
• Proven coaching and mentoring abilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SAP or other CMMS (advantage)
