Emergency Director

About the role

Concern Worldwide is seeking an Emergency Director to lead its rapid‑response programmes in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Goma, you will oversee high‑quality emergency interventions for displaced populations, primarily in North Kivu and Ituri.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, manage and implement emergency response, preparedness and recovery plans in line with budgets and timelines.
• Lead and line‑manage emergency Programme Managers and their cash and WASH teams.
• Coordinate the SAFER consortium response for Concern and liaise with partner organisations and the Consortium Coordination Unit.
• Ensure compliance with quality, accountability and reporting standards across all interventions.
• Identify new funding alerts and position the organisation for additional rapid‑response opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in humanitarian emergency management, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong leadership and team‑management skills, with experience supervising multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Excellent knowledge of cash‑based assistance, WASH, and protection sectors.
• Ability to work under pressure, travel frequently and adapt to rapidly changing security contexts.
