Field Security Officer (Professional)

About the role

The Field Security Officer provides expert security risk management support to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Country Office. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and under the technical supervision of the Regional Security Officer, the incumbent ensures that IOM activities are carried out safely and in compliance with security policies.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor safety and security procedures for all IOM programmes in the field.
• Conduct security risk assessments, threat analyses and develop mitigation plans.
• Provide security advice and guidance to staff, partners and contractors.
• Coordinate with local authorities, UN agencies and other stakeholders on security matters.
• Manage security incidents, investigations and reporting.
• Maintain up‑to‑date security records, databases and documentation.
• Deliver security training and awareness sessions for field personnel.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., Security Management, International Relations, Law, or related field).
• Demonstrated experience in security risk management, preferably in an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong understanding of UN/NGO security standards and protocols.
• Ability to work in multicultural environments and under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
