Finance Officer

About the role

Welthungerhilfe is seeking a Finance Officer to manage the financial administration of two KfW‑funded projects in Butembo, Democratic Republic of Congo. You will ensure that all financial processes meet both WHH and donor standards while supporting local staff through training and supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project funds in line with WHH and co‑financer specifications.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping entries and data documentation using bookkeeping software.
• Clear internal costs, prepare budgetary documentation, and support expenditure control.
• Prepare annual accounts, refunds, returns, and final fund requests for donors.
• Supervise and advise local administrative staff on finance, procurement, and HR matters.
• Oversee purchases, contract awards, and compliance with import regulations.
• Monitor inventory, conduct physical inspections, and manage vehicle fleet.
• Assist in budget preparation, revision, and liquidity planning.

Required profile

• University degree in business administration, finance or economics.
• Minimum three years of experience in financial project administration, preferably with partner‑implemented projects.
• International experience, ideally in the DRC.
• Experience working with donors such as BMZ, GFFO or similar institutional donors is an advantage.
• Fluency in spoken and written French and good English skills.
• Willingness to receive required vaccinations for field work.

Required skills

• Proficiency with bookkeeping software.
