Finance Officer – NOA

About the role

The Finance Officer – NOA will support corporate finance and resource management strategies for the World Food Programme. The role involves contributing to country‑specific financial plans, ensuring compliance with corporate governance, and providing timely financial insights to aid decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of corporate finance strategies and major programmatic initiatives.
• Develop and align country‑specific financial plans with regional and WFP policies.
• Report on financial status and project outcomes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Monitor budgets, forecast for new and ongoing projects, and perform bank reconciliations, cash management, and monthly closures.
• Deliver administrative services, manage contracts, and support basic HR functions such as staff benefits and local recruitment.
• Collate data for management reporting on financial, staffing, and resource usage.
• Support risk and internal control assessments to identify audit, compliance, or financial risks.
• Guide and supervise junior staff, acting as a point of referral for complex queries.
• Represent the unit at internal and external meetings with UN agencies, banks, and partners.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in finance, budgeting, and resource management within an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail for accurate reporting and forecasting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
• Experience supervising junior staff and providing guidance on financial matters.
