Finance Officer – Project Finance Management

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Officer to manage the financial administration of two KfW‑funded projects in Butembo, Democratic Republic of Congo. The role ensures that all financial processes meet Welthungerhilfe’s standards and donor requirements, supporting the organization’s mission to achieve zero hunger.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project funds in line with WHH and co‑financer specifications.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping entries and account assignments using the designated software.
• Clear internal costs across projects and prepare budgetary documentation for project heads and partners.
• Prepare annual financial statements in collaboration with the Head of Finance.
• Process refunds, returns and final fund requests to donors.
• Supervise, advise and train local administrative staff on finance, administration and HR standards.
• Handle procurement, contract awards and monitor relief supplies, ensuring compliance with import regulations and inventory controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial administration, preferably in donor‑funded projects.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, cost clearing and financial reporting.
• Ability to train and supervise local staff.
• Attention to detail and commitment to audit‑ready processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with bookkeeping software.
