Finance Officer – Project Finance Management

About the role

Welthungerhilfe is seeking a Finance Officer to manage the financial administration of two KfW‑funded projects in Butembo, Democratic Republic of Congo. The role ensures that all financial processes comply with WHH standards and donor requirements, while supporting local staff development.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project funds in line with WHH and co‑financer specifications.
• Maintain accurate documentation, account assignments, and bookkeeping entries using the organisation’s bookkeeping software.
• Clear costs internally across projects and prepare budgetary documentation for project heads and partners.
• Prepare annual account statements in collaboration with the Head of Project and Head of Finance.
• Process refunds, returns, and final fund requests to donors.
• Instruct, advise, and supervise local administrative staff on finance, administration, and HR standards.
• Handle purchases and contract awards according to WHH and co‑financer regulations.
• Monitor relief supplies and equipment, ensuring compliance with import regulations and conducting inventory inspections.

Required profile

• Experience in financial administration of donor‑funded projects.
• Ability to ensure compliance with WHH and donor financial standards.
• Capacity to train and supervise local staff on finance and administrative procedures.
• Strong attention to detail for audit‑ready financial controls.

Required skills

• Proficiency with bookkeeping software.
