Group Head of Geology – Copper & Cobalt Mining

About the role

We are seeking a Group Head of Geology to lead geological activities across our copper and cobalt operations in the Southern Democratic Republic of Congo. Reporting to executive management and the board, you will own the geological strategy, resource governance, exploration programmes and due‑diligence for acquisitions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement group‑wide geology standards, policies and best practices.
• Oversee mineral resource estimation, public reporting and maintain the Competent Person structure.
• Drive greenfield and brownfield exploration strategies, manage budgets and performance.
• Provide geological input for scoping studies, prefeasibility, bankable feasibility and expansion projects.
• Support operations through grade control, ore accounting, reconciliation and life‑of‑mine modelling.
• Lead internal technical reviews, compliance audits and due‑diligence for M&A activities.
• Promote continuous improvement and digital solutions within the geology function.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Applied Geology or Earth Sciences.
• Professional registration and Competent Person status under JORC and/or SAMREC.
• 20+ years of mining and exploration experience, including 8+ years in senior geological leadership.
• Extensive experience on large‑scale copper (and gold) operations in the Central African Copperbelt.
• Proven track record in mineral resource estimation, public reporting and multi‑site team leadership.
• Fluent English; French proficiency is a plus.
