Head of MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning)

About the role

Save the Children is seeking a senior professional to lead the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) function at country level. The Head of MEAL will design, implement and oversee a comprehensive MEAL system that aligns with Save the Children standards and donor requirements, ensuring high‑quality data informs program decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage a country‑wide MEAL system for humanitarian and development programmes, coordinating with Programme Operations and PDQ departments.
• Lead the collection, analysis and use of evidence, including gender, disability and marginalised‑group disaggregation.
• Oversee routine monitoring, baseline assessments, feasibility studies, evaluations and research to document impact and inform learning.
• Supervise and mentor the MEAL team, fostering professional development and ensuring compliance with quality benchmarks.
• Ensure accountability mechanisms are in place, building trusting relationships with children and communities.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading MEAL functions in international NGOs or humanitarian settings.
• Strong understanding of donor reporting requirements and quality frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a commitment to child‑centered accountability.
